There is something about a new year that makes us pause.
We look back at where we’ve been.
We think about where we want to go.
And, perhaps most importantly, we begin to wonder:
What is possible?
That is the heart behind my newest Peyton and Chance e-chapter book, Peyton’s Pages of Possibility: A New Year of Possibilities. 💙✨
I created this story especially for children who are learning that a new year doesn't have to mean making big resolutions or becoming a completely different person.
Sometimes, a possibility begins with something very small.
A new goal.
A new idea.
A willingness to try again.
A decision to take one small step.
📖 A New Year. A New Possibility.
In this 12-chapter adventure, Peyton begins January with her journal open and a whole new year ahead of her.
With her cat Chance by her side, Peyton and her third-grade classmates explore New Year's traditions from around the world, discover the meaning behind different celebrations, create beautiful firework salt paintings, and begin thinking about their own hopes and goals for the year ahead.
But, as Peyton discovers, goals don't always go exactly as planned.
And that's okay.
Through her experiences, Peyton learns that changing a goal isn't giving up, starting over isn't failing, and progress can happen one small step at a time.
Throughout the story, Peyton's journal gives readers a chance to pause and reflect along with her.
🌎 Learning Beyond the Story
One of my favorite parts of this book is the way literacy, social-emotional learning, culture, creativity, and reflection come together naturally.
Children will encounter traditions from different parts of the world and discover that although people may celebrate the New Year in different ways, many of us share similar hopes:
kindness, happiness, friendship, courage, growth, and new beginnings.
And, of course, Chance has a few possibilities of his own. 🐾❤️
💫 Why I Wanted to Make This Book Free
I believe deeply in the power of stories to open conversations with children.
I also believe that meaningful books should be accessible to as many children, teachers, and families as possible.
