Think. Create. Test. Discover!

I’m so excited to introduce the newest addition to the Peyton’s Pages of Possibility collection—Peyton’s Pages of Possibility: Little Scientists! πŸ”¬βœ¨

As a teacher, I’ve always loved watching children light up when they are given the opportunity to build, experiment, wonder, and figure things out for themselves.

STEM learning gives children that opportunity.

And Little Scientists was created to make those experiences easy, engaging, and meaningful for both teachers and children.

🌟 What Is Little Scientists?

Peyton’s Pages of Possibility: Little Scientists is a hands-on STEM activity book filled with scientific challenges designed to encourage children to become curious thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and confident young scientists.

The activities encourage children to:

πŸ”¬ Ask questions
πŸ’‘ Make predictions
🧠 Think critically
πŸš€ Design and build
πŸ“ Record their thinking
πŸ§ͺ Test their ideas
πŸ”„ Make changes and try again
🌈 Learn from both successes and mistakes

Because that's what real scientists and engineers do!

🀝 8 TEAM-Building STEM Challenges

One of my favorite parts of this activity book is the collection of 8 TEAM-building STEM challenges created with classroom collaboration in mind.

Students have opportunities to work together to:

🎈 Create a balloon-powered car

β›΅ Build an aluminum foil boat that can float while holding pennies

🌦️ Create a weather tool

🏠 Design a shelter that protects a toy from rain

πŸŒ‰ Explore building and structural challenges

…and more!

The goal isn't simply to see which team finishes first or creates the “best” design.

The real goal is to encourage children to communicate, listen, share ideas, persevere, problem-solve, and learn from one another.

πŸ“ Reproducible Recording Forms

Each team challenge includes a reproducible recording form that gives students a place to document their STEM thinking.

Students can record things such as:

  • Our challenge
  • Our materials
  • Our plan
  • Our prediction
  • Our design
  • What happened?
  • What worked?
  • What didn't work?
  • What would we change?
  • What did our team learn?

These forms make the activities more than just a fun building experience.

They help children think like scientists and engineers.

🌱 STEM + SEL = Powerful Learning

There is another reason I love these challenges.

STEM activities naturally create opportunities to practice important social-emotional skills.

Children learn that:

It’s okay when an idea doesn't work.

It's okay to change your plan.

It's okay to ask for help.

It's okay to try again.

And sometimes the most exciting discoveries happen after the first idea doesn't work!

Students practice perseverance, flexibility, communication, cooperation, patience, and growth mindset while they are engaged in authentic problem-solving.

πŸ† Celebrate Your Little Scientists!

After completing the activities, children can celebrate their accomplishment with a special Little Scientists Certificate of Completion.

Because every child deserves to hear:

“You are a scientist!” πŸ”¬πŸ’š

πŸ‘©‍🏫 Perfect for Classrooms

Little Scientists can be used in so many ways:

✨ Whole-class STEM challenges
✨ Small-group activities
✨ STEM centers
✨ Morning meeting extensions
✨ Science enrichment
✨ Early finisher activities
✨ After-school programs
✨ Family STEM activities
✨ Summer learning

The reproducible pages make it easy to print the challenges and recording forms and use them again with different groups of students.

πŸ“š And the Best Part?

Peyton’s Pages of Possibility: Little Scientists is FREE! πŸŽ‰

I created the Peyton series to give children opportunities to read, write, imagine, create, and discover what is possible.

Now Peyton is inviting children to put on their imaginary lab coats and join her as Little Scientists! πŸ”¬βœ¨

🌈 More Peyton’s Pages of Possibility

Little Scientists is part of my growing Peyton’s Pages of Possibility collection—created to inspire children to discover that learning can happen through stories, writing, kindness, creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on exploration.

Because every child has possibilities waiting to be discovered.
