June has a special way of bringing excitement to a kindergarten classroom. The days are longer, the sun shines a little brighter, and our students are eager to celebrate all they have learned throughout the year. This week, we had the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful field trip to the Green Animals Topiary Garden, and it was the perfect way to welcome the season.
On a gorgeous sunny June day, our kindergarteners set off with big smiles and curious minds. As we walked through the gardens, the children were amazed by the incredible topiary sculptures. Rabbits, bears, elephants, and other carefully shaped plants sparked conversations, questions, and lots of excitement. The students loved searching for familiar animals and discovering new ones around every corner.
What made the day so special was watching our young learners connect what they have learned in the classroom to the world around them. We talked about the different plants, observed nature up close, and practiced being careful observers. The children noticed shapes, patterns, colors, and textures, demonstrating just how much they have grown as thinkers and explorers this year.
Beyond the learning, the trip gave us a chance to enjoy one another's company outside of the classroom. Friends shared discoveries, helped one another navigate the paths, and created memories that will last long after the school year ends. Seeing their laughter and excitement reminded me that some of the most meaningful learning experiences happen when children are encouraged to wonder, explore, and ask questions.
As we approach the end of kindergarten, I am grateful for opportunities like this one. The Green Animals Topiary Garden provided the perfect setting for curiosity, friendship, and joy. It was a wonderful reminder that learning is everywhere—and sometimes the best classroom has blue skies overhead and beautiful gardens all around.
Our sunny day at the gardens was more than just a field trip; it was a celebration of a year filled with growth, discovery, and unforgettable experiences.
